Why is it that people who drive well below the speed limit don't get booked for obstruction. I really think they are just as dangerous as fast drivers. Everywhere I went on the weekend I got stuck behind someone doing 40 in a 60k zone ( one was doing 40 in a 70 zone)and while passing speed signs that say 60, even people going through school zones on weekends can do 60 NOT 30 or 40. They have nothing to do with P platers or Learners, they are people who seem to hold full licenses. Come on people you can't do the speed limit; or just a k or 2 below the speed limit is fine, get off the road, you are sooooooo annoying and don't deserve to hold a license!

That is so true, I get stuck behind someone everytime I head to Erina, come on people....some of us have to be 100% on time for work as the job requires it.

I feel your pain MichelleMae & scottieoyeah. I drive down Enterprise Drive Ourimbah every morning to come to work, which is a 90 zone. I am frequently stuck behind people doing 70 and one time in particular 60!
One morning on the way to work, a fully licenced, older lady screamed out in front of me and the two cars in front of me, apparantley merging with us, before immediately slowing down to 70km/hr!
All 3 of us had to jam on the brakes not to run up one anothers rear end.
Does she honestly thing that's safe driving?
BTW - I am a green P plater.

Yep, it's especially annoying if they are passing speed signs but still stick to their own low speed and yes, it's really annoying when they scream out of a road to be in front of you and then stay on a low speed

I agree the person teaching them SHOULD be teaching them to keep left unless over taking!

That's true guys, as a green P Plater, I always travel in the left lane. I can only do 100km/h and I think most drivers that can do the full 110km/h would be seriously annoyed if I sat in the middle or right hand lane on them.
My partner gets really annoyed at L platers holding up traffic - but he has to remember that he was once an L plater, learning how to drive, and you need to give them a break.
The other problem with being driven around by parents or friends as an L plater, is that some people who have had their licence for a long time, are not necessarily aware of the updated road rules, such as the correct way to indicate on a round a bout, so they're teaching the L plater bad habits.

I also do the F3 shuffel every day. Each day I spot things that make say I WISH I WAS A COPPER RIGHT NOW.

Then I see Police doing stupid things as well . Last week early morning just as dawn was coming up. theres a motor bike cop with a hair dryer stnding in the middle of the F3 no safety vest, so where s work cover when you need them.

But please people , put your lights on in dark weather ,and drive on the left. Let all the other brain surgens loose there licences on the right. If some one comes up flashing there lights , dont give them the finger just move over. its not a race, and please check all your mirrors before you move.

I really think before L drivers are let loose on the road there should be RTA driving tracks in different areas where Learners can actually learn the basics of driving and also education on getting out of sticky situations (getting out of a skid) etc before they are let loose on the road. Most Learners have not driven a car before and they are let loose on the roads with their parent etc and they are driving a potential killing machine

There are some defensive driver training courses, which I believe are Sydney based. But to the best of my knowledge, these are for those people that already have their licence. I could be wrong though, so don't quote me.
I believe a step towards creating better drivers is to have compulsory classes at school. If you start young enough and educate them, hopefully that info will sink in and be enough to carry through their rest of their lives.
I think the classes should be based on the following:
- How a car operates
- Basic car maintenance
- Basic driving skills
- Learner & provisional licence test material
- Basic common courtesy on the roads (ie, THE WAVE)
ha ha, sorry, had to add the bit about the wave. It really annoys me if I don't get the wave lol!
Seriously though, I think increasing hours just makes the kids wanna fudge the hours.

I was coming up the F3 from Sydney a few days ago, hardly any traffic around. There was a geezer driving in lane 2 of 3 lanes doing about 80k's. I was keeping left in lane 1 doing about 105, there was nothing behind me at all. To overtake him I had to cross from lane 1 to lane 3, pass him and then go from lane 3 all the way back to lane 1 again.

If I had passed him on the inside you can bet plod would have appeared from nowehere and booked me.

Why can't people keep left ? Why do they just potter along in which ever lane they fancy ?

I guess it's different when the freeway is busy, and all 3 lanes are full and travelling at the same speed in rush-hour traffic and there's nowhere else to go, but normally stay left.

And what about Tailgaters. Anybody heard that you ar supposed to leave a safe distance between you and the car in front? At 100kmph, 3 metres is just not enough, but every day somebody is there trying to hook onto my rear bumper - BACK OFF ! There's nowhere to go, get past me and there are a hundred other cars in front of me to get past too.
