Powderfinger’s ARIA #1 and seventh final studio album Golden Rule is now certified double platinum. 2010 has been an historic year for Australia’s biggest band, with the announcement of their disbandment after the last ever run of dates on the colossal ‘Sunsets Tour’.
Over 290,000 tickets have already been sold across 34 shows in 21 different cities, resulting in a whopping 24 sold out dates so far! With only a handful of shows around the country still having tickets available, it seems that many unlucky fans missed out on their opportunity to farewell this iconic Aussie band. But while the sun is indeed setting, there are still a few rays of sunshine on the horizon. Powderfinger has recently released additional tickets to their sold out shows at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne (10 & 11 September) and Supreme Court Gardens, Perth (22 & 23 September).
Iberian Dream is the fourth and final single to be lifted from Golden Rule. Reminiscent of the rock-riff days of Odyssey Number Five, the track is another classic, sing-a-long Powderfinger track and will be certain to float well across radio-waves.
To coincide with their final tour, Powderfinger is releasing Seven Deadly Spins, a vinyl replica CD collection comprising of all their studio albums – the ultimate Powderfinger collector’s item. Seven Deadly Spins will be in stores on Friday 20 August and available for a limited time only.
Powderfinger’s extensive career spans nearly two decades with sales in excess of 2.5 million albums in Australia alone. Winner of 16 ARIA Awards, the band holds an unprecedented three successive ARIA Awards for Album of the Year.
