All other minor areas of the the country have a Blues or Country festival ,we should have one on the Coast, but mix it up with Blues & Rock. WOuld be a great money spineer, either at the Entrance, Gosford, or the Wyong race course.

? what do you think.

Sounds like a great idea.
How do you make it happen?

18/02/2010

Thats the hard part lol!

18/02/2010

Well the hard part is getting STAR to get behind it.

So how about we start sending STAR, Rod & Flackster request for it. We could start a people POWER campain.

I sure the Wyong Council would be up for it If we told them Gosford was going to do it first.

Star had Rattel & HUM play at Terrigal one summers evening about four years ago it was the best . So Im in If you guys are in.

gosford has had a blues festival for the past two years. It is held around june. the first one was at Iguanas and last years was at the gosford rsl. there were some fantastic acts at both events. unfortunately there was not enough publicity. Hopefully this year more people will get behind it especially 104.5 , gosford council and central coast tourism.

I know i went to the one at Iguanas it was great blues, but no rock. The suggestion was for a Blues and Rock festival. Just imagine Blues music on steroids. lol

If you grew up going to see bands live and are now in your 30's,40's or older you know you don't have to wait for a festival to see & hear some rock bands here on the coast don't you. Every week there are some really good bands playing at venues such as The Avoca Beach Hotel, The Bayview and the Old pub at Woy Woy, and The Woodport Inn at Erina just to name a few.Don't be put off by the venue, remember these are the sought of places we used to frequent only now we're older in body but not in spirit or beer or wine, ha! ha!.You will probably find there are quite a few like minded souls there. As well as some originals these bands play great covers from artists such as Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zepplin, Green Day, AC/DC, etc, etc.Check out Dan Granero, The Steve Edmonds Band, The Dia Pritchard Band. So release yourself from the usual Saturday night in front of the telly( yes I know it's a 50 inch plasma or what ever) and enjoy some rock music and a few drinks with your old ( in body only remember) friends.

There is a Blues and Jazz festival at The Entrance around June or July, plus a Blues festival at Gosford around the same time. They shouuld do in the warmer months to get more people there and get the message out better. There is alos a little blues festival at Toukley Golf Club on the first Sunday of every month.

It amazes me that Bluesfest in Byron Bay is the biggest music fesitval every year, and still there is hardly any blues music played on commercial radio.

Star should also start playing some more blues like Joe Bonamassa, Chase the Sun, Dan Sultan Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeski, Jonnae Shaw Taylor, etc.
