on friday 104.5 had a rep from a local newspaper promoting three gigs on the weekend , one was the delltones and another was a motown tribute group. dount get me wrong they are fine acts i'm sure but rock? c'mon. Give local" rock" acts a promo, and leave these other genre groups to the other local station , after all you do promote yourselves as a rock station. Also could you play a few songs outside the square by bands, such as songs from Midnight Oils first album or thier Powderworks album for example. If I hear beds are burning one more time i'll scream. Also AC/DC's first album had some great songs on it too. Led Zepplin have about ten albums to choose from. Your listeners are people that are into these bands and would probably love to hear something different from them.

I second that!

Check out the brilliant Cover to Cover with Barry Bissell on sunday mornings, if you haven't already, it's great for some album tracks you don't normally hear on the radio. Hopefully there's a show on Powderworks and High Voltage in the vaults lol.

I third that!
The Deltones!?! Come on!
We're not stupid and know many of the bands you play have an AMAZING back catalogue that deserves to be explored. It's getting abit mundane guys.....ROCK IT UP!

I agree with you all!!!!

Get ready to have your prayers answered - top 104 album countdown starts Good Friday :-)

Yes should be good but as we heard on air yesterday morning Mandy did ask the question in the Star Friday arvo meeting........ "Are we going to play album tracks or just the hit singles off the albums?"...... To which Rod replied with the now infamous Track 11 comment lol,...... " Yeah Mandy we'll play album tracks cos i really wanna hear track 11 off some Led Zepplin album!"......which got a great laugh from everyone in the meeting...........Mandy didn't speak to Rod for 2 days after this lol!........they have since kissed and made up.......Don't worry Mandy we're with you, more album tracks on Star!!!

Need more Crue, Maiden, Metallica - they all have songs that aren't headbanging - anyway you play ACDC and that is headbanging at times. Also I request GnR's Paradise City....you guys never play it!

If you all go back a few years when this station was doing their test broardcast , every Tradie on the coast was tuned in , Why !!, No ads , No Talk, But more importantly they were playing KickAss tracks constantly and minimal repeats. Now I understand this is a commercial station , But surely you can limit the amount of times you play the same track off an old album and pick a different one please. Us Tradies will love you for it as we listen all day everyday.
Matt.

Don't get me wrong, I love listening to this station....but I'm starting to know these same songs word for word
There's so much music out there, but all we hear is the same stuff over and over and over....
I'm glad it's not doof doof crap, but please...widen the scope!!!!

True i aggree starFM should play less reapeats because if u play the same song over & over u get sick of listening to the same song after awhile.

26/03/2010

I agree with ALL of the above. There is so much incredible music out there. I'm over 50, so I grew up with Hendrix, Cream, Clapton etc etc. I love much of the latest music too, so I'm not stuck in some weird 60's, 70's & 80's time warp. I dont want to hear the same tracks from Chisel, Mellencamp, Queen & Bowie every day. Throw in a curve ball occassionally & play a track that wasnt on the Top 40, but on one of the many great albums. e.g. on Zepplin's 4th Album, (the one with the old man on the cover) "When The Levee Breaks" is as good, if not better, than "Stairway To Heaven", so play it sometime.
I could go on about other incredible artists, like Jethro Tull, Talking Heads, The Doors, The Clash, Uriah Heap, Black Sabbath , Lou Reed etc etc.................. but I wont.

27/03/2010

Listen to Alice Cooper's show from 7pm, he plays the good stuff not normally played during the day. Sabbath, early Genesis, Tull, Zep and plenty of good old rock'n'roll.

29/03/2010

Wow I wonder if they read this? Seems many of us are getting over hearing 5 Chisel songs a day - everyday!!!! They can come and raid my CD collection and musical knowledge if they need some help, maybe stop using the offical "what we must play" guIde, stop treating us like morons thinking we won't notice the repetitiveness......PLEASE STARFM MIX IT UP!

30/03/2010

STAR MANAGEMENT.WATCH THE BOAT THAT ROCKS. .........THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!!!!

Stop playing the same stuff as the rest od DMG.

Give us variaty, play album tracks that don't usually get played. Play new stuff.

And drop James Rain for God's sack.

I recon any young band out there, record James Rains songs so they can be understud , and you will be STARS

Waits, given that your post is dated 30-03-10, I'd hazard a guess that the Program Director DOESN'T read the blogs because I still have to switch over to 2GO when I've had enough Rob Thomas and Bon Jovi! Clearly, it is US who have it wrong. You should have more faith in the Program Director; he's been in radio for YEARS and YEARS, if anyone knows what we want to hear, it's him! So keep flogging Bon Jovi et al, and don't play Led Zepplin unless it's "Stairway to Heaven" cause it's all we want, obviously!

06/07/2010

Star management, the people are speaking. You know what we want. Maybe you could do a segment and call it ' one out of the box ' or something and play a track a little different. Also, are'nt you just rehashing all the same old song's with the rock star gladiators?

07/07/2010

Were KISS and Bad Company MIA from
'Gladiators or did I miss the rounds they were in?

Who else wants AC/DC with Bon Scot as a seperate entry to AC/DC with Brian Johnstone nest year?

08/07/2010

This latest Gladiator Rock is BS.

Who does the match ups they are all wrong half the people on the Coast would not have heard of half the bands. We all know who's going to win ACDC

Yes they are a great band but YAAAAWN !!!!

09/07/2010

What is the Star 104.5 definition of "Rock Star"? If Temper Trap, Uncle Cracker and Muse et al are "Rock Stars", they must be the DeCaf kind...

Do the Star 104.5 listeners REALLY want to hear this stuff?!

Is there a stattion that just plays "full strength" rock stars?

15/07/2010

G'Day listeners, if you do like your rock music then do yourselves a favour and check out the Dai Pritchard Band, they are playing at the Coast Hotel at Budgewoi on sat.14 aug. and as everyone who was at the old pub at woy woy last sat. night found out this band seriously rocks with Dai's blazing guitar riff's and a drummer that gives the skins a good going over. Also, playing this Sat. night at the Coast Hotel is the Steve Edmonds Band. For those who have seen Steve play guitar I reckon they would agree that his reditions of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix are fantastic. This is not a gig guide but a genuine push to promote bands on the coast so get out there and check them out.

I agree, also for years I was constantly requesting Motley Crue and I think it has only been in the last year that they have started playing Kickstart My Heart! This band has sold over 80 million album copies worldwide
and only 1 song is played... I dont get it

OK, i can see that most of these threads are quite old, however, they are all to do with the same thing which concerns me...
Recently I received a survey from Star in relation to the type of music I like to listen to. I don't know the rest of the demographic it was sent to but, what is with all the old crud you're playing at the moment. I'm actually turning the station off. Stop with Robtert Palmer - leave it to 2GO, Stop with eye of the tiger, stop with Phil Colins and the like. Yes, we don't like dance crap, but we're also not dead. Lets keep in rock and roll people!!
