“Avoid at all costs!”

As the current season of The Block hurtles towards yet another exciting conclusion for its 2018 season, the producers already have their eyes on a new building for 2019.

And folks, they’ve picked a doozy.

Following this year’s theme of “seedy hotel in Melbourne”, the next season of The Block will be set in yet another grungy hotel called the Oslo Hotel located in St. Kilda.

Domain reports that a Channel Nine company has splashed out nearly $11 million for the building, which was built in 1859 as five separate Victorian residences before being converted into budget accommodation and is touted to be double the size of this season’s Gatwick building.

Having closed up shop in 2017, the publication reports that the plan is to revert the Oslo back to five residences and then doled out to the usual five teams of contestants for them to renovate.

While the Oslo doesn’t carry quite the dark and sordid murdery past of the Gatwick, it does have a reputation for being cheap and, well, “filthy”.

Several guests who have stayed at the Oslo have left reviews about the hotel on Tripadvisor, many of which aren’t exactly positive:

“The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.”

“Worst stay I’ve ever had.”

“Vile – don’t ever stay here.”

“SHOCKING!”

“Avoid at all costs!”

“Sordid place!!! Run away!!!”

Sounds like the Oslo Hotel could do with a bit of a touch up, which makes it the perfect place for the next season of The Block to work its fixer upper magic on!
