Devastating news for 'Yellow Wiggle' Emma as she pulls out of shows

1 min read

Poor Emma!

Emma Watkins, known by many as the Yellow Wiggle, has revealed she will be admitted to hospital next week for chronic endometriosis. An understudy will be taking her place on tour.

Emma told The Daily Telegraph she would be undergoing treatment for the condition which she has suffered with for years.

“I have been in a lot of pain for the past couple of years,” she explained.

According to Endometriosis Australia, Endometriosis is present “when the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus (womb) occurs outside this layer and causes pain and/or infertility.”

It is reported that 1 in 10 women suffer from endometriosis with a delay in diagnosis between 7 and 10 years. This is due to girls and women normalizing symptoms as well as doctors normalizing symptoms when women do finally seek medical assistance.

Emma began performing with The Wiggles in 2010 in a variety of roles including Fairy Larissa, Wags the Dog and Dorothy the Dinosaur. She was announced as the first female wiggle, replacing founding member Greg Page as the Yellow Wiggle in May 2012.

We wish Emma the best in her treatment and recovery!
