The latest Shrek movie has fans FUMING

2 min read

Who asked for this? Nobody. Some could argue that the Shrek franchise has some of the best animated films of the 2000s (if you sweep the unwanted third and fourth movies under the rug). Hell, pictures from the first movie are still being used in memes today, and the film made ‘All Star’ by Smash Mouth recognisable by just its first word.  So, there’s no way you could improve on perfection, right? Well, according to Variety, the movie franchise is set to be rebooted by Despicable Me producer Chris Melednari. Nope, this isn’t Shrek 5 – they are literally remaking the movies, the last of which only came out 6 years ago. We have tins of tuna in our pantry older than the last Shrek movie. Fans are getting pretty frustrated with the news, with many fans taking to the Twittersphere to express their disappointment and question the decision. “Seems like they didn’t come up with a Plot for Shrek 5…so they decide to reboot,” one user wrote. “No matter what company you have, what studio producers or budget or equipment or whatever you have to make a movie, nothing will ever live up to the “I Need A Hero” Scene from Shrek 2; so please, don’t make a reboot and just make Shrek 5,” another commented. And sure, Shrek taught us that orges have layers… but we didn’t think it would be layers of unwanted reboots.
