Rugrats is officially headed back to TV with brand new episodes

2 min read

And a brand new movie.

Yes, it’s true!

90s/00’s animated series Rugrats is headed back to Nickelodeon with 26 new episodes and a live-action (aka CGI) movie.

Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon has explained that the series will include all the classic characters like Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica as well as some new characters.

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,”she added.

“What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

The original series creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain are also set to return as executive producers and the movie, written by David Goodman, is due for release in 2020.

Rugrats is by no means alone in its revival, Invader Zim has a revival TV movie, Hey Arnold! returned in a movie, Blue’s Clues is being rebooted and Rocko’s Modern Life will return in a new movie in 2018.

While we’re here, we’d like to request the below for revamp:
