LONG WALKING TRACKS ON THE CENTRAL COAST

Bouddi Costal Walk ǀ 8.5km one way ǀ Bouddi National Park

Running from Putty Beach to MacMasters Beach, this walk is known as one of the most beautiful coastal walks in all of Australia. It’s a relatively easy hike with plenty of scenery to keep you entertained.

STARTING POINT: Putty Beach picnic area

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 50mins , From Gosford – 30mins    

LENGTH: 8.5km one-way

AVERAGE TIME: 3hrs 30min – 4hrs 30min

11km Track ǀ 11km loop ǀ Dharug National Park

The 11km Track is – wait for it – 11 kilometres long! Located near Wisemans Ferry, the path follows a steep mountain ridge past creeks and through stunning gullies.

STARTING POINT: Mill Creek Picnic Area

LENGTH: 11km loop

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 10mins , From Gosford – 1hr 

AVERAGE TIME: 5hrs -7hrs

Sphinx Memorial to Bobbin Head Loop ǀ 10km loop ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

This beautiful and challenging hike trails past smooth barked apple gum, red bloodwoods, and the historic Halvorsen’s boatshed. You’ll be able to climb to the Sphinx Memorial – a beautiful carving that was crafted by a returned soldier.

STARTING POINT: End of Sphinx Road

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 10mins , From Gosford – 55min

LENGTH: 10km loop

AVERAGE TIME: 3hrs 30min – 4hrs 30min

Great North Walk – Brisbane Water section ǀ 38km one way ǀ Brisbane Water National Park

At a whopping 38km, this is the longest hike on our list and is only a SMALL section of the Great North Walk. Depending on conditions and your fitness level, this hike can take 1 to 4 days to complete.

STARTING POINT: Reservoir Road from the North, Patonga Boat Ramp from the South

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 30mins, From Gosford – 20mins 

LENGTH: 38km one way

AVERAGE TIME: 1-3 days

Great North Walk – Ku-ring-gai Chase section ǀ 11km one way ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

If the thirty-eight kilometre Brisbane Water section wasn’t enough for you, then while not tack on an extra 11km? Or just use this day walk as a taster? It can take about 5 to 6 hours due to the steep downwards track, so make sure to bring some good boots.

STARTING POINT: Just north of Cowan Train Station

LENGTH: 11km one way

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 40 mins, From Gosford – 30 mins 

AVERAGE TIME: 4hrs 30min – 5hrs 30min

Bairne Walking Track ǀ 9.6km return ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Known for its stunning wildflowers, this track offers stunning views of Soldiers Point, Towlers Bay and Pittwater, and loads of places to stop for a picnic.

STARTING POINT: Number 8 post on West Head Road

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 25mins, From Gosford – 1hr 15mins 

LENGTH: 9.6km return

AVERAGE TIME: 5hrs – 6hrs

Waratah Walking Track ǀ 10km return ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

You have to make a day of this hike! It’s at its best in the early and late summer when it’s not too hot. The stunning wildflowers will be in full bloom, and sunshine will bounce off the nearby bays.

STARTING POINT: Number 2 post on West Head Road

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 25mins, From Gosford – 1hr 15mins   

LENGTH: 10km return

AVERAGE TIME: 2hrs 30min – 3hrs 30min

Wallaroo Walking Track ǀ 9km return ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

This hike will see you traverse steep slopes, rocky paths, and dusty trails – but this challenging trek is worth it! You’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Cowan Creek and Refuge Bay.

STARTING POINT: Salvation Creek Picnic Area

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 25mins, From Gosford – 1hr 15mins 

LENGTH: 9km return

AVERAGE TIME: 2hrs 30min – 3hrs 30min

Gibberagong Walking Track ǀ 8.3km return ǀ Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Located at the southern end of the park, the Gibberagong track is a mixture of boardwalk and bushwalk. A perfect track for the adventurous bush walker, the track winds through the bush before reaching a beautiful waterhole.

STARTING POINT: Bobbin Head Road 

TIME TO GET THERE: From Wyong – 1hr 5mins, From Gosford – 55mins 

LENGTH: 8.3km return

AVERAGE TIME: 3hrs 30min – 4hrs 30min
