5 beautiful short hikes on the Central Coast

3 min read

Let’s hike…but not for too long…

Daleys Point Walking Track I 3.2km return

Daleys Point Walking track is kind of like an all-you-can-eat buffet – it has something for everyone, and just when you think you’re done you go back for more! Tucked in Bouddi National Park, this 3.2km track has beautiful glimpses of the ocean, breathtaking views, and intriguing Aboriginal carvings. The short hike only takes around 50 minutes, and don’t worry – you’ll never get full at this beautiful buffet!

The Coast Walking Track I 3km one way

If you’re a lover of Australian flora or just after a walk with plenty of pretty plants, then this is the walk for you! Starting out at Bateau Bay Picnic Area, this track winds along cliff tops, past beautiful Aussie plants, and past some of the most spectacular views on the coast. The 3km walk (6km if you choose to do the full loop), takes about an hour, and is a mix of flat and hilly sections.

Maitland Bay Track I 2km return

The Maitland Bay track is 1km each way, and is a mix of a beautiful relaxing walk… and a lung-burning climb. The first kilometre a nice easy downhill walk, and ends in the beautiful white sands of Maitland Bay, where you can swim, snorkel and sunbathe to your hearts content. The other kilometre, however, is 1000 metres of steep stairs, burning calves, and wishing you had the same lung capacity as when you were 13.  Despite this, we’d still have to admit that it’s one of the best walks on the coast.

Moonee Beach Trail I 4km return

It’s important to take breaks in hikes to keep your stamina up, and luckily for you, it’s totally acceptable for you to take a two, three, even four-hour break in the middle of this hike! You see, the Moonee Beach Trail is an easy trek that travels 2km to the shores of Moonee Beach where you can happily relax for a few hours before completing the second leg of the hike. That’s our kind of hike!

Piles Creek Loop I 4km loop

If you’re a hiker that not only loves a good walk, but an awesome hiking Instagram shot – then the Piles Creek loop is the one for you! This 2 ½ hour hike will let you trek through massive eucalyptus trees, past waters, and along a suspension bridge that’s been the background for many an Instagram shot. It kicks off at the Girrakool Picnic Area in Brisbane Water National Park, and loops around the river for a 4km hike.
