5 breath-taking day trips to take from the Central Coast

3 min read

And they’re all within an hour of the Central Coast!

Sphinx Memorial I 54 minutes from Gosford, 65 minutes from Wyong

While we would love to see the Egyptian pyramids, our holiday budget probably wouldn’t get us any further than the airport carpark. Thankfully, you don’t need to buy expensive flights when you can get a little taste of Egypt so close to home. The Sphinx Memorial was carved in sandstone by a returned soldier in memory of his fallen brothers back in World War 1. The spot is tucked in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, about an hour from Gosford. It’s definitely worth the drive, and we guarantee that the monuments detail and majesty will surely amaze you!

Bongon Beach I 40 minutes from Wyong, 60 minutes from Gosford

Hidden along the coast line in Munmorah State Conservation Area is the tiny Bogon Beach – a stunning, quiet spot perfect for snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming.  If you’ve had an unfortunate dunking incident and aren’t the biggest fan of waves, then this is the place for you! The water is very calm, and there’s plenty of rockpools to enjoy in the nearby rock formations.

Upper Gledhill Falls I 60 minutes from Gosford, 75 minutes from Wyong

There’s nothing more relaxing that swimming under a waterfall – especially a waterfall as beautiful as this! Once you dive into the water, all of your stresses go away. You soon forget about that monthly finance report you need to do at work, your late electricity bill, and your annoying co-worker who ate your lunch twice in the last fortnight.

Monkey Face Lookout I 45 minutes from Wyong, 65 minutes from Gosford

If you go bananas for a stunning view, then Monkey Face Lookout is definitely the place for you. The lookout offers up sweeping views of the Martinsville valley and beyond. There’s also a short, but lovely bushwalk from the lookout that takes you down to various other viewing platforms so you can see the view from every angle! Plus, you don’t need to go swinging from the trees to get there – it’s only a 45-minute drive from the Wyong area!

Barnetts Lookout I 45 minutes from Gosford, 56 minutes from Wyong

Located in Berowra, this beautiful vantage point overlooks the shining waters of Berowra Creek and the rolling green hills of Berrilee and Berowra Heights. We guarantee that it will take your breath away – and in a good way, not in a ‘I just walked up three sets of stairs’ way!
