5 delicious new cafes and restaurants on the Central Coast

4 min read

Let’s eat!

The Good Bits Co ǀ Opened November 2017 ǀ Gosford

The Good Bits Co has everything – nine-hour slow cooked pork buns, blueberry and cocoa smoothies, succulent pulled pork nachos, and coffee that will open your eyes to all to good bits of the day (like when Susan in accounting finally cracked a smile).  They even have a breakfast that will bring out your inner Dr. Seuss! The Green Eggs and Ham Stack made with wilted spinach, pumpkin, pesto and smashed avo is so tasty you’ll be screaming “I do so like them Sam-I-Am!”. Just make sure you bring someone called ‘Sam’ with you or people might stare.

Café Kindle ǀ April 2018 ǀ Gosford

Everyone knows how hard it is to find somewhere to eat that everyone will like when there’s a family get together. Your husband doesn’t like the pizza joint down the road, while your mum hates the Chinese buffet in the next suburb over. Well, Café Kindle is your answer to all your dining woes. The new dining destination is housed inside Gosford RSL and serves up something for everyone! Grab a pizza for your husband, some fish and chips for the kids, a wagyu beef burger for you and your mum, and a gourmet salad for your sister on a health kick. Plus, after you eat you can pop the kids into Mini Mania and let your husband wonder off to the sports bar, so you and your sister can finally have time to gossip.

Frankies Rooftop Bar ǀ Opened November 2017 ǀ Woy Woy

Look, sometimes after a rough day you just need a drink. Maybe your boss dumped a tower of paperwork on your desk at 4:53pm? Perhaps your weird neighbour had an hour-long rant about your gutters and your bins? Or possibly you just got stuck in the nightmare that is the Gosford CBD roadworks? Well, Frankies Rooftop Bar has got a drink for every kind of daily stress. They’ve got everything from Johnny Walker Green Whisky to Portabello Road Gin to Anchor Steam Beer and Domaine Valfont Rose. Plus, there’s a massive tapas menu to fight off your stress-induced hunger, and give you time for one more drink…or three.

Fish Dining ǀ Opened August 2017 ǀ Gosford Waterfront

“Well, hello sailor!” is exactly what we said when Fish Dining opened its doors. The waterfront restaurant has a bright and nautical interior, and serves up some dishes that make us want to hoist our sails right now to get on over there. On the bow, you’ll find freshly shucked rock oysters served over ice with eschalot. On the portside, you’ll see grilled Western Australia marron with samphire, braised heirloom carrots in cumin, lemon and herb butter. And when you look starboard, you’ll see an expertly chosen selection of wines that create a perfect harmony in the dish. And to finish it all off, when you head to the stern, you might just find amedei chocolate fondant with sour strawberries, star anise and yogurt sorbet. We’ll be dropping out anchor here for a while.

Rhondas Pizza Pasta Rooftop ǀ Opened May 2018 ǀ Terrigal

There’s something we need to confess – we’re having an affair. An affair with carbs that is. We’ve been cheating on our diet of kale, chickpeas and almonds with the delicious pastas and woodfire pizzas at Rhondas Pizza and Pasta Rooftop. How saucy! What can we say – the fettuccine with slow braised lamb shoulder in a tomato ragout caught our eyes, but we came back time and time again for dishes like the pork, fennel sausage and ricotta pizza, and the crispy Nutella ravioli served with vanilla gelato! Just please… don’t tell our Fitbit about this!
