The best fishing spots on the Central Coast

2 min read

Should we scale back on the fish puns?

Lake Munmorah

Someone once said to us that there are no good fishing spots in the northern section of the Central Coast – what a load of carp! Lake Munmorah is considered by some Coasties to be the best fishing spot on the Central Coast due to the crazy amount of species you can catch here. You can catch everything from tailor to long tom to luderick to flathead!

Tuggerah Lake

If you’re just getting hooked on fishing, cast your line into the calm waters of Tuggerah Lake. The quiet, peaceful area is the perfect place if you’re after a quiet fishing afternoon with no distractions. The lack of tidal movement makes the water very still, so it’s excellent for beginners. Plus, the lake is teaming with mullet, flathead and bream!

Pelican Point

Don’t be koi about finding a new place to fish – head to Pelican Point! This spot is for the more advanced fishermen, especially those who have a bit of knowledge in rock fishing. We recommend casting off into any areas with seaweed or into the gutters, as they’re known to be teeming with rock blackfish and bream.

The Entrance

If you’re looking for a new fishing spot to lure you in, then head to The Entrance! The little jetties along The Entrance Road are excellent places to cast off if you’re looking to catch species like bream, flathead, blackfish and whiting! We also recommend heading to Picnic Point Reserve on the western side of The Entrance, where you might be able to reel in a few mullets!

Terrigal

We promise there’s nothing fishy going on when we suggest Terrigal! The rocks surrounding The Skillion are great places to cast off if you looking to catch over fifteen different species. If you’re using the right bait, we wouldn’t be surprised if you caught black marlin, salmon, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, tailor bream, and many more.
