The best things to do in Popran National Park on the Central Coast

2 min read

We heard it’s popping!

Marvel at the views at Mount Olive Lookout

Mount Olive Lookout offers stunning views of Popran Creek and beyond, as well as encounters with the local honeyeaters and glossy black cockatoos. It’s only a short, steep climb to the lookout, but that steep hill will make getting to the top all the more worth it! Plus, because you burned those few extra calories, you can reward yourself with extra snacks when you get back to the picnic area!

Hike the Hominey Creek Walking Track

This five-kilometre circuit is a fun and challenging hike that takes you through the picturesque park towards the stunning Emerald Pool. The trail is nestled under eucalyptus trees and is easily accessed via the Ironbark Picnic Area. After sweating it up on this trail, you’ll be hot – and not just temperature wise! This trail has the perfect amount of hills to give you those toned legs and that perfect butt you always dreamed of!

Mountain bike the 248 Trail

Can you guess why it’s called 248 Trail? Nope, it’s not because its 248 kilometres long (thank god!). It’s actually because the trail is 248 metres above sea level! Starting from Ironbark Picnic Area, this trail is pretty short so it’s great for beginners and kids. Just watch out for the wildlife – we hear they are attracted to lycra.

Take a dip in the Emerald Pool

Who needs to buy fine jewellery when you’ve got this gem in your backyard? The Emerald Pool’s fabulous colour comes from the ferns lining the bottom of the water and from the reflection of the eucalyptus trees that hang above it. The water is so clear you can practically see your reflection – and no, that doesn’t mean you can sing “Reflection” from Mulan into the pool!
