The best dog friendly beaches on the Central Coast

3 min read

Treat your best friend!  Patonga Beach I Patonga Look, we’re going to be honest here – at least 90% of the photos on our camera roll are from mini photos shoots with our dog. It’s basically the LAW to take photos of your dog doing his normal dog things like looking goofy on the lounge, getting dizzy after chasing his tail, and – of course – frolicking along the beach. And boy, Patonga Beach is one hell of a backdrop! The off-leash area on this stunning beach is about 300m long, and runs from Jacaranda Ave to Meroo Ave. Now, smile! Lakes Beach I Budgewoi Some dogs are just way too fast. When they steal things they shouldn’t, it usually takes a co-ordinated team of five to get it back. If you’ve got a dog like this, head to the 600m long off-leash area at Lakes Beach. This straight stretch is perfect to let your fast pups sprint the day away. Even the Usain Bolt of dogs could get worn out on this stretch! Just make sure to stay within the bounds of the Ocean St access and the Northern Carpark as all other areas are restricted to pups! North Entrance Beach I The Entrance If your pup has been cooped up for a few days and is sending you absolutely barking mad then North Entrance Beach is the place for you! With a 500m stretch of sand available for dogs, they can sprint – or do ‘zoomies’ as some call it – to their hearts content! However, this spot is also a public beach, so make sure to stay in the off-leash area between Wyuna Ave and Stewart Street. Pearl Beach I Pearl Beach If you’ve been looking for a beautiful beach to take your pooch, then this spot is the pearl you’ve been searching for! At Pearl Beach, the 400m off-leash section starts at the beaches most northern point and runs down to the Agate Ave carpark. This spot is usually pretty calm, meaning you don’t have to worry about rough surf or big waves while your dog swims. However, there is one thing you have to worry about though – and that’s how you plan to convince your pup to get back in the car! Copacabanna/Macmasters Beach I Copacabanna and Macmasters Beach Dogs really are man’s best friend. They always try to make us happy, they always get excited when we come in the room, and they never judge us when we sneak into the kitchen at 12am to eat a jar of Nutella with a spoon. So, why not treat your best friend right and take them to a beautiful beach? There’s quite a few sections along the stunning Copacabanna Beach and its joint Macmasters Beach where your best bud can burn off a little steam. Just make sure to keep a close eye on the signs to find out the specific spots you’re able to take your pooch.
