The gift of food: 5 delicious places to get festive on the Central Coast

4 min read

The best gift of all!

CoCo Banana Brazilian Restaurant I The Entrance

Christmas is all about getting together as a family. At every other get together, everyone is all “I’m trying to lose a few kilos” or “I’ve just started Keto”, but come Christmas time, all bets are off! Once December rolls around, everyone is ready to laugh and carelessly stuff themselves with delicious food. And one of the best ways to do this is to gorge on succulent all-you-can-eat BBQ at Coco Banana Brazilian Restaurant! With 20 varieties of meat on offer, there’s no counting calories here. Plus, at this restaurant, you don’t have to worry about missing out any inside jokes with your family while you’re loading up your plate, because all of the meat is served straight from the skewer to your plate without you having to leave the table.

The Springs Peats Ridge I Peats Ridge

Right about now is when everyone starts watching those cheesy Christmas rom-coms. You know the ones – where the boy and the girl are destined to be together, but something is holding them back, then in a Christmas miracle, they get together on Christmas Eve. These movies are nice and all, but we’ve got a better love story for you.  It’s about a perfect pair that is destined to be together –  it’s your tastebuds and the food at The Springs Peats Ridge! Every weekend, The Springs hosts ‘Weekends with Chef Dan’ where their chef crafts beautiful dishes made out of the freshest local food. He’s made such dishes as Berkshire pork with peas, broadbeans and charcuterie sauce, and masterpieces like his Cherry Ripe dessert – a beautiful mixture of frozen chocolate mousse, coconut foam and cream, cherry sorbet and fresh cherries! Now that’s what we call a Christmas miracle!

Empires D’lite I Empire Bay

Not only is Empires D’lite a great little spot to stop in for a light brekkie, a coffee, or a sneaky cake, but it also lets you live out your number one Christmas dream – to eat a stunning charcuterie board in your own home with your family while wearing stretchy reindeer pyjamas and drinking WAY too much red wine. You see, at Empire’s D’lite you can order delicious fresh deli platters filled with hard and soft cheese, sliced meats, olives, breadsticks and crackers to enjoy with your family in the comfort of your own living room! And hey, everyone knows that family bonding at Christmas has nothing to do with presents. A true family bonding experience is filling up on cheese and red wine together before collectively passing out in a food coma while trying to watch Love Actually.

The Box on the Water I Ettalong

Christmas time can be a bit frantic. It doesn’t matter if it’s getting the decorations up, planning your Chrissie lunch or getting elbowed by angry mums in the toy section at Kmart – it’s a rough time. So if you need a break from the hum drum of Christmas to spend time with your family, head to The Box on the Water. This relaxing, waterfront restaurant is the perfect place to wind down, and of course – the perfect place to EAT! Not only are they the experts in perfectly Instagram-able breakfasts and mouth-watering seafood mains, but they’re also the masters in delicious desserts. Pick from treats such as their chocolate brownie topped with raspberries, white chocolate, macadamias and chocolate ice-cream, or their coffee pannacotta with blueberry and orange gel and cardamom biscuits. One bite of either of these and you’ll forget all about that angry toy section incident.

Arabian Lounge I The Entrance

We spend most of Christmas looking around for gifts for other people, SO we forget to give ourselves a little something. No, we don’t mean you should wrap up that iPhone X you were going to buy yourself and pretend it such a surprise on Christmas day. We mean you should treat yourself to delicious food this season – and there’s no better place to start than Arabian Lounge! Their Arabian Banquet is loaded with tasty treats such a hummus, tabouli, Lebanese sausages, baba ghanoush, lamb and chicken skewers, and dessert baklava. This selection is available for tables with four or more people – and no, that doesn’t mean you and the three other personalities you develop when you’re han-gry.
