Top 5 FREE things to do near Gosford

2 min read

We do love the word ‘free’!

Hike the Rumbalara Explorer Trail ǀ Rumbalara Reserve

When we talk about places to hike on the Central Coast, a lot of us tend to forget about Rumbalara Reserve. This reserve is kinda like the member of Destiny’s Child that no one can remember the name of. However, this stunning reserve is home to some awesome and beautiful tracks such as the Rumbalara Explorer Trail. As you wonder along this trail, you’ll often be greeted with beautiful views of Gosford and the Brisbane Water as well as picturesque nature and rock formations.

Explore the Edogawa Commemorative Garden ǀ East Gosford

Look, we’re not going to lie – we know how busy the Gosford area can get. Trust us, we drive through the traffic at peak hour every day. But if you want to see Gosford in a different light, then head to the Edogawa Commemorative Garden. The 4,000-square metre garden is based on a traditional Japanese ‘shuyu’ gareden and features a koi pond, stone garden, and a tea house!

Kayak in Narara Creek ǀ Narara

Running from up near Narara into the Brisbane Water in Gosford, the calm creek is a perfect place to take the kids kayaking. Plus, if you wanna leave the kids at home with Nanna and head out for a fishing weekend, then the areas great for kayak fishing too! The creek is known to be good for quality bream, flathead, mullet and crabs.

Pay a visit to Kariong Brook Falls ǀ Brisbane Water National Park

Although most of us only venture into Kariong when we’re taking on the dreaded ‘Kariong Hill’ traffic at 5pm, the area is home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the Coast. The Kariong Brook Falls, also known as Kendall’s Chair, is not only a stunning sight, but also a fab place to swim in the warmer months… or the colder months if you’re really, really brave.

Cycle from Gosford to Woy Woy ǀ Point Fredrick

Starting at Point Fredericks Pioneer Park and finishing up in good old Woy Woy, this ‘Point to Pelican’ ride will let you glide past some of the most spectacular waterfront views the coast has to offer. The 13.5km track will challenge you, but it’s not going to make you fit for the Tour de France or anything. Perhaps they’ll come up with a Tour de Gosford?
