Where Is Lil’ Red-Headed Annie Now?

2 min read

Remember her?

We love ourselves a period film and we especially love ourselves a musical. So what do you get when you chuck in the 1930s Great Depression with some catchy tunes, a dilapidated orphanage and a redheaded little girl dreaming of a better life? One of the greatest musicals of all time: Annie

While we remember Annie for her curly locks, furry friend Sandy and singing longingly about ‘tomorrow’, these are all things of the past. Annie, played by Aileen Quinn in the iconic 1982 film, is all grown up.

Aileen is 49 years old – she was just 11-years old when she played Annie – and has continued to perform throughout her life.

She continued appearing on stage as a child, then enrolled at Drew University where she studied languages. After graduating, Quinn toured the United States in various stage productions including Fiddler on the Roof and Peter Pan

As well as being a Spanish, drama and dance teacher, Aileen Quinn also has her own band called Aileen Quinn and The Leapin’ Lizards. In 2015 they released their first album, Spin Me and they released their second album, Lightning and Thunder in November 2019. But don’t fret, she still makes time to sing about the sun coming out:

Annie’s still got it, hey?
