Backlash after a Sydney café charges $6 for sauce

1 min read

Completely against the Aussie spirit!

For most Australian’s, free sauce is practically a human right. Although we may begrudging pay twenty cents here and there for a little squeezy packet, we still think that free sauce is an integral part of the Aussie spirit.

So, it was hardly a shock when Aussie’s were appalled and angered by a Sydney café charging customers $6 for sauce. Café 101, located in Sydney’s inner-west, has been slammed for adding the charge as an optional extra to add either pepper, garlic, mushroom, or gravy to their scotch fillet or grilled chicken breast.

Although the sauce is freshly made and does come in a large bowl, the outrage had already taken hold, leading the owner to say that he’d made a “big mistake” with the menu item.

The café will be taking the sauce off its menu in two weeks’ time after the backlash.
