Barnaby Joyce

“It’s a grey area.”

After creating a lot of controversy recently, Barnaby Joyce has revealed he doesn’t actually know if he’s the father of Vicki Campion’s baby and it’s “a bit of a grey area”

The former deputy prime minister says he was on a trip to Europe at the time she conceived and claims he has never been asked by the media if the baby is actually his.

Despite not knowing if he’s the father, he’s told The Sydney Morning Herald he’ll raise the child as if it were his own.

“It’s mine, on the record, there it is. And can I say, even if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t care, I’d still go through this, I’d still love him.”

He told the publication the initial coverage of his affair was “outrageous”, adding neither he nor Ms Campion were asked about paternity.

Referring to the headline “Bundle of Joyce”, he said:

“How could they know? They never even asked if it was ‘Joyce’s bundle’.”

Mr Joyce says he has no plans for a paternity test, saying he was in Europe with his wife Natalie for ten days after June 23, 2017. Ms Campion was in North Queensland.

After allegations of sexual harassment surfaced, Mr Joyce was pressured into resigning from the frontbench.

Mr Joyce and Ms Campion worked together for 12 months between April 2016 and August 2017.
