Score a bargain!
In 2019, Sydney is struggling with rents of up to $2000p/w, cracking apartment buildings, and $1.3 million median house prices.
However, shift your gaze a little bit further north to the humble Central Coast, and you’ll see a very different story.
While Australia’s median house price sits around $810,000, there are many suburbs on the Coast with prices up to 42% lower than the Australian average according to data collected by realestate.com.au.
In areas like Blue Haven, Kanwal and Wyongah, median house prices hover at $500,000. If you move a little further north into Mannering Park and you’ll see that number drop to $497,500.
Chain Valley Bay and Gorokan are also well below the average with median house prices of $487,500 and $485,500 respectively.
Coming in at the second cheapest on the Coast is the lakeside suburb of Charmhaven. Here, buyers can pick up a three-bedroom, one bathroom detached house for around $483,000 – a whopping $337k below the average.
But the winner of the cheapest suburb on the Central Coast is…
San Remo!
The northern suburb, situated on the northern side of Budgewoi Lake, has a median house price of just $465,000 – $18k below Charmhaven and $345k below the national average.
And judging by the current listings on realestate.com.au, you could easily pick up a two-bedroom detached home well under $465,000. In fact, the median house price is more likely to get buyers a modern three/four-bedroom home with two bathrooms, a garage, a spa and plenty of lawn space.
