Customers are complaining of longer wait times.
Supermarket giant Coles has landed themselves in some serious hot water after restricting shoppers with trolleys from using self-serve checkouts.
The new ban is currently in place in a few selected stores around Australia, however customers are frustrated with its implementation.
Although Coles told news.com.au that the new rules were designed to “ease congestion”, the Herald Sun reported that customers were told that ban was due to the supermarkets crackdown on theft.
Many shoppers are annoyed by the move, with customers complaining that it just makes regular checkout lines longer resulting in longer wait times and an “unpleasant paying experience”.
Speaking to news.com.au, a Coles spokesperson refused to confirm the number of stores introducing the policy, but assured that the number was small in comparison to supermarket giants 800 Australian stores.
