Customers can expect NBN refunds for faulty installations and poor service

1 min read

It also covers missed appointments.

Australian’s who have made the switch to the NBN network can expect financial compensation for late connections, faulty repairs or missed appointments under a new agreement proposed by the ACCC.

The consumer watchdog has proposed that NBN Co. will have to pay retail service providers like Telstra, iiNet and TPG a $25 rebate should there be a failure in service to the customer.

The providers are then required to pass on a part of the rebate to the inconvenienced customer.

“The undertaking will improve the rebate that NBN Co. pays to RSP’s for not meeting its service level time frames for connections, fixing faults and meeting scheduled appointments. This will lead to improved NBN connections and fault services performance overall,” ACCC Chair Rod Sims stated.

The new agreement also ensures greater transparency of the NBN Co. regarding internet speeds and access.
