Fans are furious as Coke Zero disappears from shelves for good

2 min read

“Your worst idea yet.”

Australian Coke Zero fans are furious as Coca-Cola announces they will remove the drink from Australian supermarkets for good by September.

Coca-Cola Australian Marketing Director Lucie Austin said they’d give Aussies the chance between the two drinks and they’d opted for the new drink Coca-Cola No Sugar.

“We said that we would let people decide and we are pleased to say the results are in – Australians have decided that Coke No Sugar is it.”

“Australians have embraced Coke No Sugar – which from day one was carefully crafted to taste even more like Coca-Cola Classic, but without the sugar.”

The announcement comes two months after the company announced they’ll change its recipes to cut sugar content.

Apparently, 3.5 million Australians are enjoying Coke No Sugar – or just aren’t able to find Coke Zero anywhere anymore so are buying the new drink because they have no choice.

The new recipe was in development for over five years and was brought out to bring customers closer to “The Real Thing”.

“We think it’s the closest we have ever come to the taste of classic Coca-Cola.”

Unsurprisingly, Coke Zero fans took to Twitter to express their anger over the situation:

if no sugar coke is so popular why is it I can find 30 + boxes of coke and 30 + boxes of no sugar and I have to fight 10 strangers over the last coke zero box. Your sales are going to flat line” one Twitter user wrote.

Dear @CocaColaAU – your decision to get rid of Coke Zero is terrible and one that I struggle to understand. To say that recent sales have been in favor of NO SUGAR is because you cannot find ZERO virtually anywhere. I will not buy CCA product any longer” another wrote.

Are you upset?
