Free Trade Day returns to the Central Coast for its third year

2 min read

Nominations are now open!

Every day, hundreds of people across the Central Coast continue to live in unequipped and unsafe housing due to financial struggles. Families struggling to make ends meet, elderly people living alone with limited finances, and next-door neighbours struggling to make repairs just so they can have warm shower – these are all situations that happen every single day.

However, these people will soon have the chance to have a huge weight lifted off their shoulders with the essential repairs they so desperately need being made without financial worries – and it’s all thanks to Free Trade Day.

First held in 2017, Free Trade Day was an initiative created by Ryan Wilson from Terrigal Electrical that sees tradies around the region volunteer to donate their time and materials to those in need on the Central Coast.

Electricians, plumbers, painters, handy men, mechanics, cleaners, builders and hundreds of other volunteers pitch in to give a helping hand to those in financial hardship that can’t afford to pay for work that gives them a safe home and a basic quality of life.

On Free Trade Day 2018, over 100 jobs were completed on the Central Coast by over 300 volunteers. Over 100 local businesses were involved, donating $80,000+ worth of labour and $50,000+ worth of materials to help out struggling local people.

And now, Free Trade Day will be returning in August 2019!

The wonderful day will be taking place on Thursday 29th August 2019, and the team are calling on people to nominate either themselves or someone they know who needs a helping hand.

They do ask that the nomination is for someone undergoing hardship, and is for a job that is necessary for a basic quality of life that can be completed in one day. Nominations can be made here.

The team are also looking for any tradies who are willing to donate their time on the day. If you’d like to sign up, click here.
