Get ready, get set, MO! Central Coast Council lifeguards join Movember campaign

2 min read

From the sand to the ‘staches.

It’ll be mo’s all around on Central Coast beaches with Central Coast Council lifeguards joining the Movember campaign this November.

More than 30 lifeguards will be taking part in Movember – a movement that aims to tackle prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health issues and suicide.

The team chose to participate in the awareness and fundraising campaign to help tackle men’s health issues – specifically prostate cancer.

“We currently have 5 lifeguards serving who had fathers suffering from prostate cancer,” Tommy Frazer,  a lifeguard from Central Coast Council revealed.

“We hope to achieve funds to go towards a cure but, more importantly, to the care of the men currently suffering from the disease.”

The lifeguards will be raising funds with a Movember Charity Night at Terrigal Surf Club on Saturday 30th November. Kicking off at 4pm, the event will see $2 from every drink sold donated to the cause as well as a raffle with prizes such as a five-night stay in a 5-star Balinese villa, surfboards, and vouchers to some of the Central Coasts best eateries.

Donations can also be made online on their official Movember page here.

The funds will go towards improving the quality of life for those with cancer as well as tackling mental health issues and reducing the high suicide rates amongst men.

“As for how much we want to raise – we don’t want to set a goal because we don’t want to put a limit on what we can achieve.”
