Gosford to Sydney train journey could soon only take 60 minutes

1 min read

30 minutes of extra sleep!

Central Coast rail commuters could soon be able to sleep in just that little bit longer, with new plans to reduce the train travel times on the Central Coast.

The Central Coast Council has just released their draft Somersby to Erina Corridor Strategy – a plan and long-term vision for the 25km stretch along the Central Coast highway.

Included in the draft strategy was a goal for more efficient transport with faster buses and more direct routes, better walking and cycling tracks, and a possibility of a 60-minute train journey to Sydney’s CBD from Gosford station.

Currently, the journey can take anywhere from 1 hour and 17 minutes and 1 hour 35 minutes on a normal day to three hours after heavy delays or incidents.

Last year, it was reported that Central Coast commuters are spending the equivalent of 40 days per year travelling to and from work.
