Woah! What?
The Incredibles is set to return to our lives once again after fourteen long years of living Incredible-less. The sequel will be picking up right where its predecessor left off… in the 1960s.
Wait, WHAT?!
We know. We’e struggling to comprehend this too.
The original film is set in 1962! Although fans had long speculated on the films time period, it was confirmed when a dedicated fan of the movie pointed to the date on a newspaper read by Bob Parr a.k.a Mr Incredible in his home – Monday May 16th 1962.
Although there are small things that break the 1960’s time setting – the use of VHS tapes and phones with buttons on the handsets – the overall ‘feel’ of the film in very 1960’s.
Turns out that this was exactly what director Brad Bird was hoping to achieve. Bird has revealed that the aesthetics of the film are mixture of the 1960’s and the 1960’s interpretation of what the future would look like.
What a bomb shell!
