The last-ever circus at Gosford waterfront opens its tent curtains this August

2 min read

It comes after thirty years of circuses appearing at the location.

Circus tents will grace the grounds of Gosford waterfront for the last time this month after almost three decades of circuses setting up shop in the location.

The Leagues Club Field, which has been home to travelling circuses for the last thirty years, is set to be the site for a large redevelopment, and with no suitable replacement found in the Gosford area, the waterfront circus tradition is set to come to an end.

“It’s been tradition for the last thirty years that a large circus play on the location in the January school holidays giving Gosford an extra choice of entertainment for families in summer,” Shane Lennon, the owner of Hudson Circus, stated.

“Families will now have to travel to other areas well away from Gosford if they want to treat their children to a traditional circus.”

Mr. Lennon went on to state that they hope the new redevelopment could offer opportunities for circuses to continue in the Gosford area.

“It would be fantastic if there was an area in the new development to cater for well-run circuses. Circuses play a huge part in drawing people to the Gosford area during the holidays as well as for day trips.”

Despite the sadness over it being an end of an era, Hudsons Circus is still determined to put on an exciting and thrilling final show for circus lovers this August. The circus, which will be playing the Gosford waterfront for its first and only time this month, will open its tent doors for the first show on August 8th with daily performances set to continue until August 25th.

The traditional circus will feature all the classics such as clowns, trapeze and aerial acts, juggling, contortion, and animal performances. However, being the last show in the area, the circus has added a modern twist so they can go out with a bang. The show will also showcase nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat dare devil acts including the infamous Globe of Death!

Plus, this year, Hudsons Circus is setting up extra provisions to make sure all kids get a chance to experience the circus with an autism/sensory friendly show to be held on Saturday 10th August at 10am!

Tickets can be purchased online here, by phoning 0458 HUDSON, or at the box office prior to the show.
