This letter a schoolboy wrote to his teacher after her dog was put to sleep will touch your heart

2 min read

We’re not crying. You’re crying.

A Scottish teacher was dreading returning to working after her precious dog was put to sleep after becoming sick, however when she received an unexpected three-page letter from one of her pupils, it made her day a little easier.

The teachers daughter, Lucy Dunne, saw the letter her mum brought home and decided to share it on Twitter.

“Mum has been so upset about the dog being put to sleep and stressing about having to go back into school today, and she got this from a wee boy in her class,” she wrote on Twitter.

The first page of the letter reads: “To Mrs Dunne, sorry if you don’t like it or it makes you emotional.”

The next sheet read: “I’m sorry about your dog, I want to that your dog was cheeky. I bet your dog was really cheeky. I bet your dog was always happy. I bet your dog was super adorable. I bet your dog was related to you. I bet your dog was really lucky to have you. I bet your dog was super incredible. I bet your dog was always full of energy.

But most of all, I know your dog was special…and your dog is in a better place…and is looking over you.”

Hold on, we’ve got to go find some tissues because we are just BAWLING.

The letter finishes with a picture of sweets, with the caption “Charlie was a great dog. Love Callum.”

If the letter wasn’t already touching enough, Callum had made the letter into an acrostic poem with the letters C, H, A, R, L, I, and E running down the left side of the page.

Twitter fell in love with the story, retweeting it 20,000 times and liking over 101,0000 times.

There needs to be more Callum’s in this world.
