M1 accident causes 8 hour delays on the Central Coast

1 min read

Did you get caught in it?

Southbound travellers experienced heavy delays on Saturday after a truck crash on the M1 closed lanes and diverted traffic, resulting in eight hour delays.

At around 7:35am, a B-double combination travelling south crashed into a concrete barrier under the Allison Road underpass. As crews worked to clean up the scene, lanes were closed and traffic was diverted onto Sparks Rd.

Traffic became bumper to bumper along the M1, Sparks Road, the Pacific Highway, Hue Hue Road and Old Maitland Road as drivers attempted to reach the M1 interchange at Tuggerah.

Although all lanes on the M1 were open by 1:10pm, traffic was still heavy around the area until 4:30pm with NSW Central Coast Incident Alerts, News and Information warning drivers to allow extra travel time until conditions returned to normal.
