Median house prices on the Central Coast increase by up to $57,000

2 min read

It comes as Sydney prices drop by almost $500,000.

Median house prices in a number of Central Coast suburbs have continued to skyrocket amid the housing market slump, with some suburbs seeing increases of $57,000 in just twelve months.

According to the Domain House Price Report – March Quarter 2019, the median house price in Avoca Beach has grown by 5.80% resulting in an increase of property prices of $57,000. Since March 2018, median property prices have risen $948,000 to $1,005,000 in the suburb, bucking the national trend of a plummeting housing market.

Meanwhile, in the north, Budgewoi has grown by 5.10% with property prices increasing from $495,000 to $520,000 – a total growth of $25,00.

Bateau Bay also exhibited good growth with a 3.60% increase over the twelve-month period, seeing the coastal suburbs median house prices grow from $683,000 to $710,000.

Furthermore, areas such as Lake Munmorah, Gwandalan, and North Gosford all saw increases over 2.50% in the last year.

The increases were surprising to some as median house prices in Sydney continue to drop by almost 20% with over 20 Sydney suburbs exhibiting a median house price drop of 15.6% – 18%.

Gladesville was the hardest hit percentage wise with prices plummeting 18% from $2,085,000 to $1,710,000 – a drop of $375,000, while North Bondi saw the biggest price decrease, loosing $482,000 since March last year.
