Miniature train rides still a hit with Coasties

1 min read

Choo choo!

On the first Saturday of the month for over five years, Narara has come alive with the sounds of trains chugging along small tracks on a property tucked away on Showground Road.

For many Central Coast locals, the miniature trains at Narara have been a staple in many weekends. The fun and low-cost activity has long been a hit with local parents, and tourists alike.

The event, that has run the first Saturday of every month for over half a decade, is run by the Central Coast Steam Model Co-Op – an organisation operated completely by volunteers with a passion for miniature trains.

The ‘running days’, as they are called by the group and many locals, offer up the opportunity for kids and adults to ride a selection of miniature trains on extensive tracks that have been installed on the property.

On the day, visitors can ride the trains or sit on one of the real train platform seats to watch the event. There are also tables, and picnics are welcomed by the club.
