New app will show available parking spots in Gosford CBD

2 min read

The same technology was found to be successful in Terrigal last year.

Those who travel into Gosford CBD can say goodbye to driving in circles to attempt to find parking thanks to a new app that will highlight any empty parking spaces in the area.

Using the ParkSpot Central Coast NSW app, drivers will be able to see available parking near their destination with a push of a button.

The app links up with 260+ recently installed parking sensors in the CBD that provide real time data of vacant and unoccupied spaces.

The technology is currently already in use on the Central Coast with hundreds of these sensors successfully being installed and utilised near The Haven and Surf Club in Terrigal last year.

Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith was a key aspect of the Central Coast Council Gosford Parking Strategy that looks to evaluate the parking crisis in the CBD.

“Parking sensors and the use of the ParkSpot app not only improves traffic flow, redirecting drivers to available spots, but it is also key to activating our town centres and reducing stress,” the mayor stated.

Mayor Smith went on to explain that the app will also make Gosford more accessible, with drivers able to specifically search for disabled parking spots.

The app will present parking areas as green, blue or red zones based on availability, and will also allow users to search by time limit in the parking spots.

ParkSpot Central Coast NSW is available to download on the App Store or Play store.
