Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint are causing much excitement and quite a few laughs across Australia after announcing the release of a new rare coin set.
Step aside Woolworths Discovery Garden, because the newest collection craze is set to be the millions of limited edition $1 coins hitting tills today.
The new coins are part of the largest drop since the $1 coin was created, and will feature classic Australian themes such as Vegemite, a Quokka and a Meat Pie. No, we aren’t kidding. There’s also an Esky, Iced Vovos and Thongs on offer.
There will be a different design for each letter of the alphabet, with 6 coins released every Monday until the full set is revealed on October 21.
The only way to get your hands on the iconic coins will be to make a purchase at an Australia Post store, and receive the limited edition $1 coins in your change.
Or you could enlist all your friends to give you theirs…
