Level one water restrictions are predicted to be implemented on the Central Coast in coming months with weather forecasts showing no sign of sufficient rains to keep dam levels at the required capacity.
The water levels at Mangrove Creek Dam, the main source of water for the Central Coast, now sits at just 54.46% – the lowest the Coast has seen since 2013.
The Central Coast Council has flagged the possible restrictions with hopes Central Coast residents will use water wisely over the coming months to avoid the looming restrictions.
- Limiting showers to less than four minutes
- Using the half-flush button on toilets
- Running dishwashers and washing machines only when full
- Watering gardens before 10am or after 4pm to avoid the hottest time of the days
- Reducing water use by using trigger nozzles on hoses and installing water saving showerheads
- Washing vehicles on grassed areas using buckets or water-saving hoses
