Customers are furious.
Anyone who has been busting to go on a long road trip knows the relief of seeing the golden arches in the distance. However, if your desperate, you best have your wallet ready to go upon walking through the doors.
In order to use the bathroom at a Macca’s in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, customers claim they must first purchase a something from the counter or self-serve, and use the code on the bottom of the receipt to access the toilets inside of the restaurant.
Maroochydore resident Kim McDonald shared the picture to Facebook of the sign on the toilet doors that reads “Toilets proudly provided for the use of McDonald’s customers. Code on bottom of receipt.
According to her post, she found out about the rule after visiting the restaurant with her 90-year-old grandmother. She states that her grandmother uses a walker, meaning that it took about five minutes to get inside from the car park. Only when they got to the bathroom door did they realise that they would have to order before the grandmother could use the bathroom.
“At least 10 or so minutes would have passed where a near 90-year-old has had to hold their bladder,” Ms McDonald wrote. “They are lucky they didn’t need to get out the mop and buckets. And probably lucky I didn’t have my kids with me too.”
