The western areas received just 10mm.
Despite a wet few days across most of the NSW Coast, the downpour has failed to reach those that need it most – the drought-stricken farmers.
Although Newcastle, the Central Coast and the North Coast received upwards of 80mm in just 24 hours, western areas received a measly 11mm.
Meteorologist Craig Ryan told AAP that conditions in areas like Armidale and Tamworth weren’t improved by the showers.
“We have seen helpful totals in the 10-20mm range for the northern tablelands, it’s not breaking any droughts but it’s certainly helpful.”
Rainfall across NSW was just half the yearly average, with parts of rural NSW having the lowest winter rainfall on record.
