Other journalists aren’t happy.
Channel 7’s breakfast show is known for its light hearted and informative content, however they’ve landed themselves in some serious hot water for their controversial segment on the Thailand cave rescue.
Sunrise has been accused of “theft” after the program used footage from the Four Corners special report about the Thailand cave rescue, but failed to credit the ABC and purposely covered up the broadcaster’s watermark.
The segment, which was aired on Tuesday, caused outrage among journalists and viewer. The ABC reporter responsible for the interviews wrote on Twitter “Channel 7 has ripped off all our @4courners interviews…no attribution…and no shame.”
The Sunrise executive producer claimed that the watermark was covered up due to “a busy screen” and that it was an honest “error”. The ABC was credited in all further crosses.
Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew was forced to apologise to the ABC in yesterday’s broadcast.
