2 min read

And they are nowhere near the beach!

While most of Australia is panicking about the housing market more than we did about the plastic bag ban or the ball tampering scandal, the Central Coast is continuing to buck the housing decline trend with of our two suburbs being named as some of the most in-demand in Australia.

According to new data created by realestate.com.au, North Gosford and Kariong were two of the hottest suburbs in the country.

The data was obtained by analysing the average number of property views per listing across the country and the state. While the average number of visits per property in NSW in 2018 was around 762, North Gosford and Kariong both knocked that number out the park, receiving an average of 1036 and 940 respectively.

North Gosford is said to have made the list due to its suburban lifestyle and close proximity to Gosford CBD, while Kariong offers easy access to the motorway for Sydney commuters whilst still being close to Gosford and Woy Woy.

Both suburbs have seen a tremendous about of growth in the last five years, with median house prices increasing by up to $330,000.

According to data from homesales.com.au, the median house price in Kariong has grown from $390,000 in 2013 to $717,000 in 2018 – an increase of $337,000 in around five years.

In North Gosford, to median price in 2013 was just $330,000 – $228k less than the 2018 price of $618,000.

Other NSW suburbs that made the list were Hunters Hill, Willoughby and Mount Annan in Sydney, and Buxton – a small town an hour outside of Wollongong.
