It’s not what you think!
It’s a problem all Aussie’s know well. On a hot summers day, you’re itching for a cold treat so you pull into Macca’s drive thru, only to be met with the worst news – the soft serve machine is down.
This occurrence has become so common that there have been campaigns, Facebook groups, and memes created surrounding this well-known issue.
But did you know that the machines might not actually be broken?
According to the Wall Street Journal, the main reason the machines are shut down is for cleaning. In the past, this process could take upwards of FOUR HOURS!
However, according to a Reddit thread created by McDonalds employees, other reasons for the machine being down can be because it needs new parts or because the machine gets clogged. One employee also stated that some workers would let the machine run dry, meaning that it would take a lot of time to fill it up and get it running again.
Now if you’ll excuse us – all this talk about ice cream has made us hungry for a McFlurry.
