This is how much Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants get paid

2 min read

Finding love on national TV = not priceless.

When an amorous single signs up as a contestant on The Bachelor, they commit to taking up to three months out of their lives to film the show/vie for the affections of the show’s lead.

So how much do they earn for disrupting their lives while being thrust into the public eye?

The Daily Telegraph reported earlier this year that most contestants were ‘paid less than $100 a day’:

An anonymous Bachelor contestant told the paper:

“You don’t get paid a wage as such, you get given a weekly expense allowance which is under $100 a day. It is below minimum wage.

“It’s ridiculous what you get paid. A lot of the girls were excited to get that amount a week, but I was like are you serious I wouldn’t get out of bed for that.”

Former Bachelorette Sam Frost told news.com.au about the massive sacrifice contestants make to appear on the show:

“I do feel for the girls.

“You have to be quite vulnerable to do The Bachelor and to put yourself out there to a guy who is dating multiple women. It’s quite difficult being so vulnerable.

“I don’t think people understand when you go on a show like The Bachelor that you quit your job because you don’t know how long you’re going to be there for. These beautiful girls would have quit their job, they put their lives on hold in the hopes of finding someone.”

As for the leads – the pay packet varies.

Brisbane’s Courier Mail say Sophie Monk pocketed a sweet $300,000 for her season.

Marketing manager Matty Johnson reportedly got $200,000 to be Australia’s fifth Bach, while Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins was said to have earned “a hell of a lot more” due to his existing fame as a footballer, reports Now To Love.
