This STRANGE but DELICIOUS trick could help you beat your jetlag

2 min read

Say goodbye to sleeping until 6pm!

You’ve just got back from your week long American adventure filled with burgers, fries, and movie stars. You feel fine for a few hours after you land – but then it hits you.

The dreaded jetlag!

Suddenly, you’re sleeping until 4pm and can’t figure out why you’re watching breakfast television while eating dinner.

But there could be a way to beat it altogether!

According to author and researcher Cristina Ruscitto, eating is the key to getting our bodies used to the time difference.

You see, eating is related to the circadian rhythms of the human body which is basically just the 24-hour clock that runs inside your body that affects sleep and energy. When jetlag hits, your circadian rhythms are felt more strongly as your routine is disrupted.

Ruscitto recommends working with these rhythms by eating in sync with your local time as soon as you get back.

“The idea is that you readjust by eating in line with local time – not just sleeping on local time,” she explains.

“Eating regularly provides information to the circadian system, telling the body when it needs to be active.”

This finally gives you an excuse to chow down on all the Aussie food you missed as soon as you get home! Vegemite and Iced Vo-Vo’s here we come!
