Woolworths slammed by customers for mouldy food

2 min read

Products with best-before dates of April 2019 have been found with mould.

A number of frustrated customers have slammed Woolworths after discovering mould on their recently purchased food.

The affected customers posted images of their contaminated items on the supermarket social media, leading to questions over their operations, safety processes, and honesty.

A Queensland customer, Chloe Khan, shared a picture of her mouldy cheese on Facebook, enquiring how a product with a best-before date of April 2019 could already be growing mould.

“Had a craving for some cheese and salami on crackers with some sun-dried tomato,” she wrote.

“Went and got everything…came home opened the cheese to find this.”

Another customer reported that their garlic bread had mould growing on it, despite the product being in date.

“Today after a long day, my partner and I decided to stay home and have frozen pizza and garlic bread bought from your Everton Park store for dinner, that we have purchased earlier this week,” Paddy Franks wrote on the supermarkets Facebook.

“When buying our garlic bread we decided on getting the Woolworths select garlic bread cause its only garlic bread right. To our surprise when opening your garlic bread (we) find mould on our garlic bread. Our first thought was that the garlic bread was out of date but it wasn’t.”

A customer in Melbourne had a similar issue with the brands garlic bread, while another shopper found mould on their falafel salad.

Woolworths told Yahoo7 News they were looking into customer reports.
